RETAINER PAYMENTS
A “retainer” is an amount paid up front and deposited into the firm’s trust account to pay future legal fees and expenses. This typically involves a billing schedule that includes billing on an hourly basis (rather than a “flat fee”). Bills are prepared on a periodic basis with the retainer being used to pay the bills. Retainer payments are usually made at the beginning of representation, and may need to be replenished from time to time as the retainer balance is depleted. Use this link if your matter is being billed on an hourly basis and you need to make an initial retainer payment, or if you need to replenish your retainer balance.
